13th North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition opened today on 8th October 2011

13th North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition opened today on 8th October 2011 at the Kangla Rock & Sport Climbing Wall of MMTA Campus Imphal by the following dignitaries: Shri KK Chhetry –IAS Commissioner Tourism Govt. of Manipur, Shri H. Deleep Singh – IAS, Special Secretary Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of Manipur, Shri Rupachandra Yumnam – Editor ISTV, Dr. L. Surjit Singh – Chairman North East Zone Sport Climbing Committee cum President-MMTA, Shri Manglem – Secretary Manipur Olympic Association and Shri W. Sushilkumar former Deputy Director YAS. Above dignitaries jointly inaugurated new bouldering wall MMTA. Four States participating this Competition from Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur. 45 participants are competing this competition. This competition is organised for the selection of climbers of 17th National Sport Climbing Competition to be held New Delhi from 3rd to 5th November 2011.

 

 

Special Adventure Course for Manipur Sangai Festival 2011

Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association is going to conduct a 10 day residential special Adventure Course at MMI Complex Lamdan from18 to 27 October 2011 for selecting the volunteers of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2011. Interested youths from Manipur could contact MMTA officials on or before 10 October 2011 ( 40 seat only) first cum first.

 

4 days Adventure Tourism Awreness Training Camp at Shiroi

4 days Adventure Tourism Awreness Training Camp at Shiroi of Ukhrul District Manipur and inaugurated on 28th September 2011. The Training Programme is organised by the Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association in collaboration with Naga Artists Opera under the sponsorship of Regional Director -NE, Indiatourism Guwahati, Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India. Mr. K. Kabib IPS SP Ukhrul District, Dr. L. Surjit Singh- President MMTA and Shri HRK Sharma graces the function as the Chief Guest, President & Guest of Honour.

30 campers are participated in this thraining programme including officials. Aim of the training is to inculcate the youths of Ukhrul District for conducting Adventure tourism related events in Ukhrul. Mr. Kabib highlighted that Ukhrul will not grow without tourism and this District has high potentials of tourism. Campers are visited to Shiroy peak as the part of Training on 30th September and Dr. Surjit President MMTA distributed certificate of participation on the same day.

4th September 2011 : Manipur Tourism was today awarded the ‘Most Promising New Destination Award’ at concluding day of 91st Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) being held at Nehru Centre, Mumbai from 2nd September to 4th September 2011. 

 

Travel and Tourism Fair 2011, Mumbai

2nd September 2011: The Travel and Tourism Fair 2011 was inaugurated today at Nehru Centre, Mumbai by Shri. K.K. Chettry, Commissioner cum- Director (Tourism), Govt. of Manipur as Chief Guest along with Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand. The fair will be held from 2nd September 2011 to 4th September 2011. Different stakeholders from Manipur are currently participating in the fair. The team is led by Shri. K. K. Chettry, IAS, Commissioner cum- Director (Tourism), Government of Manipur and includes Mr.L. Ibochoubi , Tourist Officer, Dr. L. Surjit, President, MMTA, Mr. HRK Sharma, Managing Director, Seven Sisters Holidays, Mr. Santosh Shekhar, Manager- Business Development, Shija Hospitals and Mr. Sommykanta Paonam, Manager- Marketing, The Classic Hotel.

During the fair the representatives of Manipur Tourism along with the stakeholders will be showcasing the tourism potential of the state apart from promoting the forthcoming Manipur Sangai Festival which is held annually from 21st to 30th November every year.

The fair is participated by more than 400 stakeholders from different part of the world.

 

3rd Adventure Camp for Heritage Convent School of Uripok at MMI Complex Lamdan 26th August 2011

160 staff of Heritage Convent School Uripok participated in one Day Adventure Training Camp at Manipur Mountaineering Insitute Lamdan on 26th August 2011

 

3 Day Sport Climbing Camp at Kangla Rock & Sport Climbing Wall for Mega Manipur School

A 3 Day Sport Climbing Camp at Kangla Rock & Sport Climbing Wall of MMTA office was held on 13, 14 and 21 August for Mega Manipur School comprised by 100 students from Mega Manipur School.

 

2nd Imphal River Rafting on 12th August 2011

2nd Imphal River Rafting programme were conducted by the MMTA comprised by 15 person on 12th August 2011. From Kanglatongbi to Imphal.

 

2nd Team of the Classic Hotel at Lamdan MMI Complex for one Day Adventure Camp on 1st August 2011

70 numbers of The Classic Hotel Staff Lead by General Manager were visited to Adventure Tourism Complex of Manipur Mountaineering Institute Complex Lamdan on 29th July 2011. In this Camp MMI instructor conducts Trekking Programme and other adventure activities.
