CS Visit to Adventure Tourism Complex of MMI on 26th February 2012

Shri DS Poonia -IAS Chief Secretary Govt. of Manipur visit to the Adventure Tourism Complex of Manipur Mountaineering Institute MMI Lamdan with Mrs. Poonia, Shr.C. Jeyakaran - Entrepreneur from Bangalore, Shri M. Radhakrishnan from Pune, Brigadier Laove Verma SM, Commander 73 Mtn Brigade, Shri Shyamlal Poonia-IAS - SDO Ukhrul, Dr. Kh. Pallin MD Shija Hospital & Research Institute. Dr. L. Surjit President and his team of MMTA and the 80 campers of Know Your State receipt the dignitaries with a healthy camp lunch. Shri DS Poonia encouraged the campers of Know Your State and express the importance of MMI in the State. He also inspected all the developing site inside the MMI complex which were taken up by the MOT through Manipur Tourism Department Govt. of Manipur. Dr. Surjit request to the CS on behalf of MMTA for the development assistance of MMI and surrounding villages (in-terms of minimum standard amenities).

As a part of Know Your State part -II sponsored by 57 Mtn Division -Red Sheild and organised by the Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association, Maj Rakesh Ranjan- 9 Engineer Regiment of 57 Mtn Division and Dr. L. Surjit Singh President MMTA Flagging off two Adventure trips  from MMTA on 19th February 2012 to Adventure Tourism Complex of MMI Churachandpur and Bishnupur District  respectively. Each party were compiled by 40 and 40 participants respectively. Maj Rakesh Ranjan encouraged the participants on behalf of Maj Gen Vinay Punen VSM GOC 57 Mtn Div during the flagging off ceremony and Dr. L. Surjit President MMTA briefed to the campers "what to do during their venture"

Surjit Singh President MMTA Flagging off two Adventure trips of Valley youths of Manipur from MMTA on 12th February 2012 to Ukhrul and Tamenglong Districts respectively. Each party were compiled by 44 and 42 participants respectively. Maj Vivek encouraged the participants on behalf of Maj Gen Vinay Punen VSM GOC 57 Mtn Div during the flagging off ceremony and Dr. L. Surjit President MMTA briefed to the campers "what to do during their venture

KNOW YOUR STATE PART -II - 2012

Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association is going to organise camps at Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Tourism Hot Spot Sites of Valley Districts of Manipur as a Part of “Know Your State” project under the 57 Mtn Divisions from 10th to 23rd February 2012. Interested persons age between 15 to 22 could collect & submit application forms on or before 9th February 2012 from the Office of Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association during the office hrs. This camp is specially organised with the following objectives that every youths need to know their friends living in different corner of the state with their natural surroundings, cultures, historical backgrounds, heritage sites, natural resources and every positive aspects what they needs in their future life through this journey of adventure activities. Camp fees will be free of cost.

66 Adventure Course Concluded on 27th October 2011

66th Adventure Combined Adventure Course specially organised for the selection of volunteer of Manipur Sangai Festival -2011 was concluded on 27th October 2011. The said course is compiled by 35 trainees form all over the districts of Manipur mainly from Ukhrul District.

 

This Course has been designed to provide the Youth with the four attributes of Endurance, Courage, Comradeship and Excellence. It is done by exposing the Youth to both the imposing might and Beauty of Nature through outdoor exercises like Trekking, Rock Climbing, Watermanship, Map Reading, Camp and Bush Crafts and Jungle Survival. The Youth also interacts with Society through Community Work, Cultural Programmes, Public Speaking and Group Competitions. In the end the Youth emerges with a firmer base and stronger determination to stand and face the challenges of life and provide leadership when the situation demands.


Dr. L. Surjit Singh ( President MMTA), Shri N. Ibungochoubi ( Former President –MMTA), Prof. A. Shanta – Dean NEIGRIMS – Shillong grace the function as the Chief Guest President & Guest of Honour during the Graduation Ceremony held at MMTA Office Minuthong on 27th October 2011.

4-Day Adventure Tourism Awareness Training Camp at Mao, Senapati District 13 to 16 October 2011

A 4-Day Adventure Tourism Awareness Training Camp at Mao, Senapati District was inaugurated on 14th October 2011 in the presence of following dignitaries: Shri L. Adahru- President Mao Town Committee, Dr. L. Surjit Singh- President –MMTA, Shri N. Ibungochoubi former President- MMTA, Shri A. Moses- President Mao Tourism Club, Shri – Athili – Songsong Village Authority and Shri Ashikho – Chairman Kayinu Village Authority. The said programme is organised by the MMTA & Mao Tourism Club Senapati under the aegis of Regional Director –NE Indiatourism Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India.

During this camp, a new Waterfall was explored by the MMTA experts and Mao Tourism Club at Song Song Village Mao. This waterfall is approximately 55 feet height and known as Elai-Chi ( Elai Waterfall). This training programme is compiled by 35 participants including 5 girls from Mao. Objective of this programme is to give tourism awareness to the youths those are living in tourism potential sites of this state. The said programme is concluded today on 16th October 2011 chaired by Dr. L. Surjit Singh President MMTA, N. Ibungochoubi- former president MMTA and Shri L. Moses – President Mao Tourism Club- Senapati District, Manipur.
